Astypalaia Represents Greece at Europe Day Celebrations in Brussels!

Today, Saturday, May 6, Astypalaia is serving as Greece’s ambassador at the information booths hosted by the European Council in Brussels, as part of the Europe Day celebrations. This year’s festivities invite the public to explore the institutions of the European Union through special tours and various interactive activities.

The Greek booth, organized by the Press and Communication Office in Brussels, will showcase the beauty of the Greek islands accompanied by the traditional island-style ballos music of Antonis Apergis. Informational material from the Greek National Tourism Organization will be distributed, along with unique souvenirs and brochures provided by the Municipality of Astypalaia.

Throughout the celebrations, thousands of visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy Aegean island imagery through a short film curated by the Press and Communication Office of the Greek Representation. They will also discover the mythological connection between Astypalaia and Europe, along with general information on the island’s cultural, culinary, and tourism identity.

Among the attendees will be the Deputy Mayor of Astypalaia, Maria Kampouri; the President of the Hoteliers’ Association, Maria Manolaki; and Virginia Chrysochoou, a member of the municipal tourism committee, who will be wearing the island’s traditional costume—always a highlight that draws admiration.
