The 1st Honey Festival in Astypalaia is a Reality!

The time has come for Astypalaia honey to have its own special day. This famous local product, well-known throughout Greece and proudly representing the island in every fair and market, was, for the first time last night, the main highlight of yet another event organized by the Municipality of Astypalaia in collaboration with the island’s Beekeepers’ Association.

As stated in the organizers’ announcement, “The island’s producers ensure the production of honey of exceptional quality, adhering to the latest standards in beekeeping, maintaining high levels of excellence, catering to conscious consumers, and continually securing top spots in a highly competitive field.”

On Friday evening, a large crowd gathered in the Mills Square to experience this 1st Honey Festival up close — tasting honey-infused delicacies, learning some of the secrets behind the exceptional Astypalaian honey production, and of course, enjoying plenty of raki and live music by a traditional band!
