Over the past few decades, as Astypalea has grown as a tourist destination, it has been genuinely loved by countless visitors! Many of them discovered its unique beauty, and what may have started as just another holiday destination, soon became the one closest to their heart.

Thousands of photos are shared online every year, spreading the island’s magic to every corner of the world. These images capture what stood out most to travelers who enjoyed the island and brought its story back with them to cities across Greece and beyond. One of those people is Austrian photographer Irma Freh, who discovered Astypalea, was captivated by its charm, and through her lens, continues to take us on visual journeys to the island we long to return to.
